Exclusive

In a strange twist, Dianna Collier of Collier Associates has agreed to an exclusive. She will be pitching my manuscript to two publishing houses over the next couple of weeks. If we have any bites, she will hopefully offer me representation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Feedback for Eyes of the Unknown

Many of the agents would like to know who has read my book and how it was received. To my colleagues, friends, and families, here is the place to post your comments about my book.

The beginnings of my first book

Many of my friends have asked me where I came up with the idea for my story. Eyes of the Unknown is a reflection of the five years that I was bedridden with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Graves Disease. During that time, much of what I identified about myself was taken from me. I began to look more inwardly and develop many talents that might not have been discovered if not for my illness. The idea that each one of us has an inward sight intrigued me. Direct your eye right inward and you'll find a thousand regions in your mind yet undiscovered became the inspiration for my current story.

Marlise Wind and Sheila Mulligan, authors of the Medicine Wheel, have been such an inspiration to me to keep going with finding an agent. Both have been extremely helpful with providing feedback and suggestions on where to go next. I have found that it helps to provide fresh eyes to my story. Fortunately, while I wait to hear back from agents, I am continuing to write the second book in the series Eyes of the Unknown and am a third of the way through it. It might even be finished by the time I acquire an agent!

I have heard back from the Dystel agency. My manuscript was read with "great interest" but unfortunately Ms. Brown will be unable to represent me.

Agents

I have had a favorable response from Dianna at Collier Associates, but she will be unable to represent me, as she does not represent young adult ficiton. She did encourage to leave my book "as is" and continue to seek out agents who specifically represent young adult books. It was encouraging to hear how much she enjoyed reading my manuscript.

I am currently waiting for a response from Alexandra Brown with the Jane Dystel agency.
